Duncan is a terrific guide, who is very well-informed and has a fund of fascinating anecdotes, facts and stories about Skye. He packed a lot into the tour yet knew how to pace it and adapt to an elderly group member and those not accustomed to the changeable Skye weather. The mini van was very comfortable.

Duncan spent time getting to know our group members, then adjusted to best meet our needs. His grasp of history and ability to explain things is exceptional. We had fun, heard stories, avoided the big crowds and had a great day touring. We never felt rushed. Car was comfortable and clean. Duncan gave us a great recommendation for a tour guide the following day ) he was booked) and he gave us other insights about future stops on our trip. The four of us agreed we would hire Duncan again and highly recommend him.

An Unforgettable Day on Skye with Duncan ​If you’re looking for a tour of the Isle of Skye that feels less like a generic bus trip and more like a day out with a very well-informed friend, look no further than Duncan. ​Being a local, Duncan’s depth of knowledge regarding the area’s history and hidden gems is second to none. He kept us captivated with stories all day, but what really impressed us was his flexibility. When the filming of the new Highlander movie threw a wrench in our plans and closed off some of our intended sights, Duncan didn’t miss a beat. He immediately pivoted to some fantastic alternative spots that were just as stunning, ensuring we didn't miss out on the magic of the island. ​We even had a bit of unexpected drama at our lunch stop at Neist Point. We arrived right in the middle of a rescue operation for someone who’d had a fall. Seeing the airlift take place was a sobering reminder of the rugged landscape, but thankfully, we heard it wasn't life-threatening. ​Even with the Hollywood disruptions and the real-life rescue, Duncan made the day seamless, educational, and incredibly fun. If you're heading to Skye, do yourself a favor and book a day with him!

Booked a 1/2 day tour with Skye Day Tours. Our driver and tour guide, Duncan, was knowledgable and personable. We were with our son and his family, including our 7 & 9 year old grandchildren. Highly recommend.

We were lucky to have Duncan as our guide during our visit to Portree on the 2nd and 3rd of October. He is extremely knowledgeable and we thoroughly enjoyed his company and inputs. Unfortunately, storm 'Amy' interfered with our trip, but overall I strongly recommend Duncan. God bless!

Our day (9/17/2025) touring the Isle of Skye with Duncan MacInnes of Skye Day Tours was nothing short of unforgettable. We saw breathtaking landscapes, learned about the island’s deep history and culture, and felt a real connection to the people who have called Skye home for centuries, including Duncan’s own family, whose roots here stretch back to the 1600s. Duncan is not only deeply knowledgeable but also a wonderful storyteller and conversationalist. He answered every question we had (and even the ones we didn’t know to ask) with warmth and enthusiasm, adding layers of meaning to each stop. His playlist deserves a special mention; it’s a mix of perfectly chosen tunes, including some songs recorded by Duncan himself, that set the ideal soundtrack for the dramatic Skye scenery. He also has an incredible knack for avoiding the crowds, making sure our experience felt peaceful and personal. Duncan was attentive to our needs, happy to take photos, and full of helpful advice about island life, local spots, and travel tips. We had absolutely enjoyed day tour - it was the highlight of our trip! Duncan and his daughter Eilidh are both very knowledgeable and friendly. They helped us see so much more than I thought we'd be able to see in only one day. We brought along two littles and he ensured we hit stops that were fun and engaging for both the children and adults - and he provided us with a booster and car seat along to make sure they stayed safe. Absolutely top experience, highly recommend!

Duncan picked us up at our lodgings and drove us all over the island to see the beauty that Skye offers. He suggested places to go, which were amazing. We wouldn't have thought to go to some of them. Each location had a story or the history behind the monument or tourist attraction. Several times, we would have missed seeing the attraction if we didn't have Duncan. He made our trip special and worry free, but most importantly he treated us kindly and as you would a friend. We would hire him again in a heartbeat.
